Humanistic Studies professor Martin is next Research Scholar
The Office of the Provost and the members of the Research Council are pleased to announce the newest Research Scholar recipient. Assistant Prof. Christopher Martin of Humanistic Studies has been awarded a three-credit course release for spring 2013, affording him time to advance his scholarship and further investigation into “Individuality and the Metaphysics of Power.” His inquiry touches upon the influence of Baruch Spinoza, a 17th century rationalist philosopher, and will involve “a provocative reading of the nature of space.” Martin says he intends to complete a manuscript defending an account of individuality that grounds it in an individual’s power.
