Salerno earns trip to Grammy Camp
Not UW-Green Bay Prof. John, or faculty member Christine, but their son, 16-year-old De Pere H.S. junior Frankie Salerno, a promising young guitarist. Frankie is one of 32 top young musicians invited to take part in the weeklong program in Los Angeles, with selections made by audition tapes. The Grammy Foundation, which also awards college music scholarships, will have Grammy campers perform at different jazz venues, meet jazz pros like trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and even record an album at Capitol Records. They also get to attend the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 10 and perform at the Grammy Celebration after-party. Says saxophonist John, Frankie’s father, “His resume is better than mine now.” See the Press-Gazette feature.
