Dale on primaries: Wisconsin could be relevant
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney may be well on his way to winning the nomination after a strong showing at this week’s Iowa caucuses, which has some questioning the relevance of a Wisconsin presidential primary not held until April 3. UW-Green Bay Prof. Tim Dale told the Green Bay Press-Gazette it’s likely Romney will secure the nod by the middle of next month, but said that under the right circumstances, Wisconsin still could matter. If Romney and Iowa runner-up Rick Santorum — and perhaps even third-place Iowa finisher Ron Paul — continue to split the vote, Wisconsin could make a difference, Dale said in a story that ran Thursday (Jan. 5).
