Political perceptions: Weinschenk lecture to address myriad myths in American politics
Assistant Prof. Aaron Weinschenk, Public and Environmental Affairs, will present “Myths and Misconceptions in American Politics: Ten Things Political Scientists Wish Everyone Knew” during the next Deans’ Lecture Series event, slated for noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 in the 1965 Room. Weinschenk will address a number of political assumptions that have become so commonplace that folks rarely challenge them, either in the news media or the general public. He will present a list of 10 ideas that many people have about politics and demonstrate how those ideas either are inconsistent with evidence gathered by political scientists or are more complicated that people often assume.
