Death discussion at Philosophers’ Café, this Thursday
The Philosophers’ Café, aided by a generous grant from the Wisconsin Humanities Council, resumes its monthly discussions this year, kicking off this Thursday with the discussion “Death and the Meaningful Life.” The discussion leader is Tanya Randle of the St. Norbert College philosophy faculty. Death is part of human life, but is it possible to understand or prepare for dying? Must we believe in an afterlife in order for this life to have meaning? Or might the inevitability of death help secure meaning in life? The Philosophers’ Café aims to bring community members together in lively and thoughtful conversation. The death discussion will come alive at about 7 p.m. this Thursday (Sept. 15) near the fireplace at St. Brendan’s Inn, 234 South Washington St., in downtown Green Bay. Prof. Christopher Martin of Humanistic Studies is the campus contact for this joint UWGB/SNC series.
