UW System employee pay to be made public in Gannett database
UW System is in the process of complying with a public records request from Gannett Newspapers for payroll information for all System employees who were paid more than $25,000 during fiscal year 2011-12. UW-Green Bay received word Tuesday that its data was just released and could soon be available to the public in the online database maintained by Gannett newspapers in Green Bay, Appleton and elsewhere. (Similar data was already online for many or most K-12 and municipal employers.) Jennifer Sloan Lattis, senior UW System legal counsel, says actual pay, overtime pay, and overload pay information was provided. The Gannett request was made of all state agencies. We’re told that at least one staff member on one UW campus petitioned that her payroll data not be released because of a domestic violation situation. At UW-Green Bay, any employees with specific questions about the data release should call or email campus open-records contact Dan Spielmann.
