‘Let’s Bring the Campus Kitchens Project to UW-Green Bay!”

That’s the message from Sarah Himmelheber and friends. Himmelheber, a faculty member in the Social Work Professional Program, is promoting the idea of bringing a program called Campus Kitchen Project to Green Bay. CKP is a nationally networked food rescue and redistribution program currently operating on 33 campuses including two in Wisconsin. CKP encourages the next generation of leaders to implement innovative models for combating hunger, developing food systems, and helping communities help themselves. Local chapters partner to share on-campus space, recover food from cafeterias, and engage students as volunteers who prepare and deliver meals to the community … all meant to supplement and expand the area’s existing array of food pantry, sustainability and feeding options.
