UW-Green Bay Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band concert Dec. 1
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in the Cofrin Family Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, 2420 Nicolet Drive.
Tickets for the concert are $7 for adults or $5 for students and seniors, and are available at the door, or in advance by calling (800) 328-8587 or online.
UW-Green Bay Prof. Kevin Collins directs both the symphonic band and the wind symphony.
Prof. Eric Hansen will join the symphonic band as the featured soloist for “Star Dust” by Hoagy Carmichael. The band will also perform “Morning Alleluias for the Winter Solstice” by Ron Nelson, “Prelude in the Dorian Mode” by Antonio de Cabezon and Percy Grainger, and “Amen!” by Frank Ticheli.
After a brief intermission, the Wind Symphony will perform “To Set the Darkness Echoing” by Dana Wilson, “Komm Susser Tod” by Bach and “Symphony No. 2” by Frank Ticheli which includes “Dreams Under a New Moon” and “Apollo Unleashed.”
This is the eleventh concert of the 2010-11 season.
