Slideshow: Reception brings together donors, students
Human Biology major Michelle Gumm (above, left) enjoyed meeting Dr. Herbert and Crystal Sandmire ’80 at the recent Scholarship Reception at the Weidner Center. The Sandmires fund a scholarship each year for a student who is pursuing a career in the medical field.
The Oct. 9 gathering brought together about 100 people to share stories of what UW-Green Bay and student scholarships mean to them. The donors were able to get to know the recipients on a more personal level and the students were able to put faces to names and express their gratitude for receiving their scholarships.
Amanda and Beth Rodenhauser spoke to the group on how the scholarships they received have reduced the stress on paying for tuition so they can focus on their dreams of becoming teachers upon graduation. They spoke on behalf of all the recipients by thanking the generous donors for investing in their futures.
