Video: UW-Green Bay launches ‘campus climate’ survey

Students, faculty and staff at UW-Green Bay have the opportunity to share their thoughts, experiences and suggestions as part of a comprehensive campus climate study.

As part of the study, a confidential, online survey is being conducted Feb. 7 through Feb. 18.

Diversity director Deborah Rezac says the goal of the survey is to identify areas to work on to make campus a more welcoming environment

“We recognize that the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay plays an important role in educating our students to be prepared for a global society,” Rezac said. “It’s really important that we understand and we include all viewpoints and all cultures and all religions and experiences to enrich our lives here.”

Rezac hopes at least half of all students, faculty and staff complete the 45-minute survey. Once someone starts the survey, they have to complete it in one sitting.

“I want to encourage everyone to complete the survey,” Rezac said. “ We are targeting 50-percent return. I know that’s a high target rate. But the quality of the information will be so much more valuable to us if we have a large return. And I can’t emphasize enough that we take this seriously.”

Chancellor Thomas Harden says the survey is a valuable tool.

“The climate survey is important to UWGB because we’re striving to create an environment that is fair for everybody, provides equal access for people no matter what their backgrounds are, or who they are,” Harden said. “We need you to participate because if just a few people fill out the survey it won’t be helpful. So please participate by getting online and completing the survey.”
