Photos: UW-Green Bay hosts community Kwanzaa Celebration
As UW-Green Bay hosted the community Kwanzaa celebration, Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 with food and entertainment, guest speaker Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes encouraged support for Black-owned businesses as a way to honor one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. This year’s theme was on Ujamaa, or cooperative economics.
The program included a Libation Ceremony by Associate Prof. Francis Akakpo (Social Work), student testimonials by members of the Black Student Union, a performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by student Aisa Rogers (Theatre), and the keynote by Lt. Gov. Barnes.
