Hyphenated American: Ethnic Labels vs. True Identity

The American Intercultural Center will have its first of six fall-semester panel discussions next Tuesday (Sept. 22). The program, “Hyphenated American: Ethnic Labels vs. True Identity” will begin at 2 p.m. in the Christie Theatre on the lower level of the University Union. It will address the identification of Latino or Hispanic, Black or African-American, Asian or Pacific Islander, Native-American or Indian American individuals. Students, staff, faculty and community members hear and use these descriptors, but do they truly describe who people are? Join the discussion about the meaning behind these labels and how they shape our thoughts and identities. Panel facilitator is Prof. Andrew Austin, Social Change and Development.
