Go Green! Doyles’ tree has warm fuzzy from Phuture Phoenix
The Phuture Phoenix Program has long been a favorite with Governor Jim Doyle and First Lady Jessica Doyle.
Now a representative of the program has been invited to visit the Governor’s Residence for the month of December. The Phuture Phoenix bear (pictured) will be one of the star ornaments on the decorated evergreens in Wisconsin’s Executive Residence beginning in December.
Thousands of people, including busloads of tour groups, visit the Residence each December just to see the home in its holiday glory. One tree in particular, which highlights the contributions of Wisconsin’s outstanding schools and programs, will serve as the bear’s temporary home.
You may remember that in October of 2008, Phuture Phoenix was recognized as a Wisconsin Program of Distinction by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction PK-16 Leadership Council. This honor recognized Phuture Phoenix as a model program for the state of Wisconsin with regard to improving attendance and academic achievement for at-risk students in Northeast Wisconsin.
