Jazz concert is 7:30 pm Thursday
UW-Green Bay’s Jazz I, Jazz II, and Vocal Jazz ensembles will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (April 30) at the Weidner Center. The varied program includes a number of arrangements by Associate Prof. John Salerno, who directs the Jazz I and Vocal Jazz ensembles. Associate Prof. Adam Gaines directs the Jazz II Ensemble. Familiar tunes on the program include “Makin Whoopee!” and “Mambo No. 5”; the vocal selections “Whenever I Call You Friend” (Kenny Loggins) and “Brahms Lullaby,” each arranged by Salerno; and a closing Jazz I set that includes the standards “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” “Beyond the Sea” and “Take the A Train,” along with a Salerno setting of the Lennon/McCartney tune “In My Life.” More details.
