Gurung to address conference on ‘Facebook, texting and learning’
Prof. Regan Gurung will lecture from 1:10 to 2 p.m. Tuesday (May 17) in MAC Hall Room 204. The title of his talk is “What’s Your Status? Facebook, Texting and Learning.” He’ll describe his new research into the phenomenon of social networking and texting, and how it is affecting the health, behavior and learning of those who partake. Recently named a UW System “teacher of the year,” Gurung is president of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. Tuesday’s 11th annual Enhancing the Teaching of Psychology Conference at UW-Green Bay includes presenters from UW System institutions as well as the University of Chicago. (The keynote presentation by distinguished professor John Cacioppo addresses the topic of “Social Neuroscience”). Along with Gurung, UW-Green Bay faculty members leading sessions are Prof. Ryan Martin and Christine Smith, “Teaching Without Textbooks,” and Prof. Georjeanna Wilson-Doenges, “Sharing Assessment Strategies for Psychology Learning Outcomes.”
