Bollant wins website’s Yow Award

UW-Green Bay women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant is the recipient of the Kay Yow Coach of the Year Award, one of numerous annual awards presented by the commercial sports website collegeinsider.com. The award is described as a tribute to Yow, the legendary coach who helped build the women’s college game, was among the sport’s winningest coaches in NCAA and Olympics history, and who publicly battled cancer in her later years. The Yow Award is made with input from a committee of coaches and journalists. It is presented to a Division I women’s head coach who embodies not only a winning spirit but who also displays character both on and off the court. “It’s humbling to receive this honor,” said Bollant. “I got a chance to meet Kay and I absolutely love the fact her faith was important to her. To see her fight and perseverance, the things that matter in coaching, along with her faith is something I hope I can do and do well.” Read more.
