UW-Green Bay’s Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music presents ‘Messiah’ in a powerful collaborative performance

Don’t miss the student talent in ‘Big Fish: Small Cast Edition’ in November

Green Bay, Wis. – For more than 250 years, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah has dazzled audiences around the world with its timeless beauty and inspiring message. This December, the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay’s Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music invites the community to experience this beloved holiday tradition in a powerful collaborative performance on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 7 p.m. in Cofrin Family Hall at The Weidner.

The performance will feature the UW–Green Bay Concert Choir, University Singers and String Orchestra, joined by guest instrumentalists, soloists and choirs from local high schools Ashwaubenon High School, Preble High School and Seymour High School. Together, these ensembles will bring Handel’s masterwork to life in a celebration of community, artistry and the enduring spirit of the season.

Adding to the evening’s splendor, the concert will also include Arcangelo Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in G minor (Christmas Concerto,) a luminous and expressive work by Handel’s contemporary that perfectly complements the festive program.

UW-Green Bay student talent is showcased in the Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music production of Big Fish: Small Cast Edition, co-produced with UW-Green Bay Theatre & Dance. The show is a heartwarming musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by John August. Performances will take place November 13–15 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre, Theatre Hall, on the UW–Green Bay campus.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed Tim Burton film, Big Fish follows the larger-than-life adventures of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman whose fantastical stories charm everyone around him—especially his devoted wife, Sandra. As Edward’s son, Will, prepares to become a father himself, he sets out to separate fact from fiction and discover the truth about his father’s incredible tales.

Filled with humor, heart, and a touch of magic, Big Fish explores the enduring power of storytelling, the importance of family, and the ways our stories shape who we are.
