Samantha Meister, assistant professor in Education, presented a session titled: “Skepticism, Excitement, and Connection: Reflections on Developing Curricular Competence from a Statewide Collaborative Network of Literacy Education Faculty” at the annual meeting of the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers held in Denver, CO on November 3-5. This session highlighted the reflections learned from co-facilitating a network of 15 faculty and instructors from eight institutions of higher education across the state of Wisconsin over the course of this 2-year project. This network focused on collaborative learning and classroom resource development on the topic of building curriculum literacy and curricular competence in pre-service teachers, as well as incorporating developed resources into teacher education courses to gain student insights and feedback.
