As COVID-19 vaccines roll out, Thompson sets goal of 75% of courses in person on UW campuses in fall | Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Jon Shelton, vice president of higher education for the AFT-Wisconsin union and a professor at UW-Green Bay, also welcomed Thompson’s announcement, provided campuses have access to the vaccine and that there are steps taken to protect people who have health conditions that prevent them from getting it.

“I can speak for our members in AFT-Wisconsin when I say that we agree that face-to-face instruction is a vital part of most students’ learning, though for some students, access to instruction through a digital format may be better for them,” Shelton said. “We also support President Thompson’s goal to maximize face-to-face instruction, as long as we can ensure the safety of faculty, staff and students.”
