UW-Green Bay Graduates First Class of Rising Phoenix Students
Green Bay, Wis.— After two years in the program, UW-Green Bay’s first Rising Phoenix students from Manitowoc Lincoln High School are approaching graduation. Rising Phoenix graduates will participate in a May 14 commencement ceremony held at the Kress Center at UW-Green Bay, Green Bay Campus. Of the current 23 students from the cohort, 19 are on track to earn the Associate of Arts and Sciences degree and at least seven are planning to continue with their bachelor’s degree at UW-Green Bay.
UW-Green Bay is hosting a graduation celebration for Rising Phoenix students and their families on Friday, May 13, from 5 to 7pm at UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus. Manitowoc Public School District leaders and Manitowoc Lincoln High School administrators and counselors will also join in the celebration.
UW-Green Bay’s Rising Phoenix Early College High School Program offers students the opportunity to get a head start on earning college credits through dual enrollment while still in high school, with the potential to earn their high school diploma and a UW-Green Bay Associate of Arts and Sciences degree. The program was created with the goals of reducing college debt, closing the achievement gap and providing advanced learning opportunities for students in Northeast Wisconsin communities.
Manitowoc Lincoln High School launched the inaugural cohort in 2020. Since then, Rising Phoenix has expanded to Two Rivers High School, Mishicot High School, Marinette High School and a state-wide cohort through Wisconsin’s GEAR UP program.
