FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 27, 2025
Top 200 List distinguishes UWGB’s Indigenous enrollment, educational programs and student services
Green Bay, WI –The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was recently recognized by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) in their rankings of the 2024-2025 Top 200 Colleges for Indigenous Students. This distinguishment places UW-Green Bay among the leading institutions in the country for supporting Indigenous students and Native learning.
A national nonprofit focused on expanding Indigenous STEM opportunities, AISES selected UW-Green Bay based on Indigenous student enrollment (125+), graduation rates and degrees earned, as well as Native faculty (4), Tribal partnerships, Native-centered academic programs and cultural services.
The prestigious recognition reflects UW-Green Bay’s 50+ years commitment to serving the region’s Indigenous communities. Its First Nations Education Doctorate (FNED) is unique and the university’s first doctoral program offered. A bachelor’s degree in First Nations Studies (FNS) is available to all students, which includes Oneida Language courses taught since the mid-1970s in partnership with the Oneida Nation community. Additionally, the Center for First Nations Education provides a dedicated gathering space for learning and togetherness for all students.
“We are incredibly proud of this recognition from AISES. It highlights our partnerships with the region’s Tribal Nations that allow our university to help expand pathways for learning and recognizes our steadfast commitment to serving the people and communities of Northeast Wisconsin. From recent high school graduates to later-in-life learners, UW-Green Bay is driven to break down barriers to accessing college while forging educational opportunities for all,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander.
UW-Green Bay and UW-Madison are the only Wisconsin schools selected in the Top 200 list. We invite you to learn more about our commitment to Indigenous education and community engagement.
