UW-Green Bay Outreach offers popular Video Game Programming Camps

Students entering grades 8 through 12 in fall 2015 can enroll now for three different levels of Video Game Programming camps at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2420 Nicolet Drive. The dates are as follows:

• Video Game Programming Level 1, Session 1: June 14-17, 2015
• Video Game Programming Level 1, Session 2: July 12-15

• Video Game Programming Level 2 (Unreal Software): June 28-July 2
• Video Game Programming Level 2 (Unity Software): July 26-31

Campers are invited to learn about the world of object-oriented programming and receive an introduction to developing software in a gaming environment. Campers will learn the basic techniques of creating games and will be introduced to object-oriented programming, learn how to make objects interact with each other through events and how to program some basic games. Students may take one or both of the Level 2 gaming camps after completion of the Video Game Programming Level 1 camp.

Camp Director and UW-Green Bay instructor Ben Geisler has worked at four AAA game development houses: Raven Software, Human Head Studios, Frozen Codebase and Radical Entertainment. His past credits include Soldier of Fortune 2, X-Men Legends, Jedi Knight 2, Quake 4, The Incredible Hulk: UD, Elements of Destruction, Burgertime World Tour, Prey 2 and Prototype. Geisler has a bachelor of science and a master of science degree in computer science from UW-Madison.

Students can attend as commuters or as residents living in UW-Green Bay student housing. Camp fees are as follows:

• Video Game Programming Level 1 (3 days): $279 for commuters (includes lunch); $479 for resident housing students (includes instruction, room and board, counselor supervision and transportation to evening activities).

• Video Game Programming Level 2 (Unreal Software) (4 days): $335 for commuters (includes lunch); $525 for resident housing students (includes instruction, room and board, counselor supervision and transportation to evening activities).

• Video Game Programming Level 2 (Unity Software) (5 days): $350 for commuters (includes lunch); $569 for resident housing students (includes instruction, room and board, counselor supervision and transportation to evening activities).
