Explore New Ideas in the New Year with UW-Green Bay’s Lifelong Learning Institute
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 7, 2025
Green Bay, WI—Is curiousity and the desire to learn part of your new year’s resolutions? The 2025 catalog for UW-Green Bay’s Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) is now available, and registration is open. LLI is a membership-based and volunteer-led program for adults interested in learning in retirement and their leisure time. UW-Green Bay’s mission is to educate all who want to learn—from middle schoolers to mature adults.
LLI has created an exciting line-up of 203 in-person courses, live and recorded online classes, outdoor classes and tours. Course topics include arts, crafts, culinary, fitness, history, science and nature, and more. History courses like “Queen Marinette: Her Life and Times” offer unique perspective on local lore, and special interest courses like “Great Decisions 2025,” delve into foreign policy issues facing the United States. Members may also receive a guided walk or learn yoga.
Engaging with continual learning throughout life keeps the brain active and can reduce cognitive decline, and many members feel a great sense of satisfaction and purpose when they learn new ideas. LLI also creates opportunities for new friendships and can help with isolation.
“I have been a member of Lifelong Learning for more than ten years,” said Betty B., “and I cannot recommend the program enough. During our fall semester, I took a variety of classes with experiences that ranged from touring the lighthouse in Kewaunee to learning about the future of transportation. No matter your interests, there are many fascinating classes to choose from. Being part of LLI has given me the opportunity to learn new skills, keep up on current events, enhance my understanding of current and historical events and developments, and, as a side benefit, make new friends!”
If you are thinking of becoming a member but would like to learn more, a searchable online course listing for Spring 2025 and a downloadable PDF are available on the website. Courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You must join as a member to take courses.
The Spring 2025 semester fee is $100. Members may initially register for up to 15 classes per semester with additional classes available based on enrollment.
Other benefits to membership include: exclusive invitations to social events, early bird notice of registration, subscription to members-only newsletter and special invitations to unique day trip and domestic travel opportunities (may require an extra fee).
