Estamos Aqui’ Welcomes Thousands on Campus
Electric energy, blasts of color and roughly 12,000 people shared in the Estamos Aqui’ festival on campus in September.
A big thank you to all of the volunteers – more than 100 of you – who made this incredible event engaging, welcoming and true celebration for all who attended. Here’s a bit more information about the celebratory event, by the numbers:
- 12,000 guests welcomed
- 107 Total Volunteers
- 58 from UW-Green Bay
- 34 from Community Organizations
- 15 from the Weidner Center
- 61 Volunteers in the Family Area alone!
- 18 Food Truck Vendors
- 2 Beverage Vendors
- 27 Market Vendors
Families were welcomed by music, food, market vendors and lots of fun family activities. The Einstein Project and Girl Scouts Adventures on the Go offered a variety of STEM related activities, friendship bracelet and a scavenger hunt in the trailer. Local Hispanic book author Rudy Hernandez engaged with the crowd during Spanish Story Telling time. Children loved the Piñata Making area, and even Phlash made an appearance!
The community-wide event promotes understanding and appreciation of Hispanic traditions, art, music, food and literature while fostering a sense of community and inclusivity by welcoming community members to participate, collaborate, volunteer and celebrate diversity. The event also supports local Hispanic businesses and entrepreneurs by providing them with a platform to showcase their products and services.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a welcoming success!
