Buckthorn-free is the way to be

Join the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity’s effort to create a “Buckthorn-Free Cofrin Arboretum.” Common and glossy buckthorn are aggressive invasive plant species in the Cofrin Arboretum that have a negative impact on existing plant communities. The project has a goal to eradicate invasive buckthorn species in the 290-acre arboretum within the next three years. A planning and control method teaching session will be held from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 18 in the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity in Mary Ann Cofrin Hall.
