Bortnick buzz: Prodigy draws media attention ahead of tonight’s show
Excitement continues to build for tonight’s (Thursday, July 11) Ethan Bortnick concert at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. As we told you here earlier in the week, the 12-year-old piano prodigy will perform at 7 p.m. tonight, headlining the Kress/Mattson Parkinson’s Fundraiser supporting the Waisman Center at UW-Madison. Tuesday (July 9), an enthusiastic Bortnick interviewed and performed live on WLUK, Fox 11’s “Good Day Wisconsin,” and Wednesday (July 10), he was on the WFRV, Channel 5 evening news. “I think it’s incredible how music can change how people think and feel,” Bortnick said. Added Nancy Mattson, one of the event’s organizers: “There’s a choir singing with him, 100 boys and girls from the choir, a symphony, back-up singers, your jaw drops, you can’t believe it.” You can catch more of Bortnick this afternoon on WBAY, Channel 2 — a story by reporter Kristyn Allen is set to air during the 4 p.m. newscast.
