Former Regent blasts UW-Madison chancellor
David M. Hirsch admits it has been some time since he was on the UW System Board of Regents. (He served for a few years in the 1990s during the early part of the Tommy Thompson administration.) Nevertheless, in a guest op-ed in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he pulls no punches in calling for the job of UW-Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin. “If this type of conduct had occurred at a publicly traded company, where a division president publicly called for the sale or spinoff of his or her division without consulting the CEO, that division president would have been fired immediately and escorted out the door by security.
