Student Life partners with Handbags for Hope
The Office of Student Life is partnering with the local charity Handbags for Hope on a purse collection over spring break. Handbags for Hope collects gently used purses and fills them with personal supplies and donates them to women in need. Recipients have included Freedom House, St. Johns Shelter, Safe Haven, Golden House and NEW Community Shelter. Handbags for Hope has delivered over 2,000 purses to six states. Besides the purses, “Handbags” collects the following personal items to fill the bags for the recipients. Travel-sized and unused hotel items are perfect:
- Lip Balm
- Tissue Packs
- Deodorant
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Body Wash
- Feminine Products
- Socks
- Brushes/Combs/Picks
- Washcloths
- Toothbrush Holders
- Lotion
Hand sanitizers will not be accepted.
