GREEN BAY, Wis. — For more than 250 years, George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” has dazzled audiences around the world with its timeless beauty and inspiring message. This December, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music invites the community to experience this holiday tradition in a powerful collaborative performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in Cofrin Family Hall at The Weidner.

The performance will feature the UW-Green Bay Concert Choir, University Singers and String Orchestra, joined by guest instrumentalists, soloists and choirs from Ashwaubenon High School, Preble High School and Seymour High School. Together, these ensembles will bring Handel’s masterwork to life in a celebration of community, artistry and the enduring spirit of the season.

Adding to the evening’s splendor, the concert will also include Arcangelo Corelli’s “Concerto Grosso in G minor” (Christmas Concerto), a luminous and expressive work by Handel’s contemporary that perfectly complements the festive program.

UW-Green Bay student talent will be showcased in the Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music production of “Big Fish: Small Cast Edition,” co-produced with UW-Green Bay Theatre & Dance. The show is a heartwarming musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by John August. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13-15 in the University Theatre, Theatre Hall, on the UW-Green Bay campus.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed Tim Burton film, “Big Fish” follows the larger-than-life adventures of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman whose fantastical stories charm everyone around him — especially his devoted wife, Sandra. As Edward’s son, Will, prepares to become a father himself, he sets out to separate fact from fiction and discover the truth about his father’s incredible tales.

Filled with humor, heart and a touch of magic, “Big Fish” explores the enduring power of storytelling, the importance of family, and the ways our stories shape who we are. With a soaring score and unforgettable characters, this musical offers an extraordinary theatrical experience that celebrates love, legacy, and the wonder of life’s journey.
