GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A Fox Valley woman is on a mission to help those struggling to find safe and affordable housing in Kenya.
According to Habitat for Humanity, nearly 30% of people there live below the international poverty line, and the demand for housing far outweighs the supply.
Stephanie Diedrich got the itch to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity a decade ago while studying at UW-Green Bay.
“Me and 9 others actually went to the Philippines and met up with some students from Japan and were all part of this community build, building an apartment complex there,” says Diedrich, the team lead for Habitat for Humanity’s Kenya global village trip.
Since then, she’s participated in building projects across the world.
