Romeo review: Sutton show ‘smart,’ ‘funny,’ ‘original,’ ‘amazing’

Prof. Brian Sutton’s original musical, “Searching for Romeo,” earned high praise from Green Bay Press-Gazette critic Warren Gerds, who attended Thursday’s (July 12) opening night at the Weidner Center. Sutton’s play is “smart, funny, bawdy, clever, original, irreverent, tuneful, hokey, teasing and amazing,” Gerds says by way of introduction. He also calls the show “another example of the originality and can-do spirit that’s found on Green Bay stages,” giving it three-and-a-half out of four stars. It’s a great start for the show’s sold-out, four-performance run, which includes shows at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday (July 14), as well as a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee. Full review.
