UW Green Bay sends off 2024 graduating class

GREEN BAY (WLUK) – More than 1,100 students celebrated a major milestone on Saturday; college graduation.

The UWGB graduation was split into two ceremonies, both being held at the Kress Events Center.

The first celebration set the bar high with a powerful speech from speaker Blai Yang of Manitowoc. The student offered advice for those with graduation jitters as well as words of tribute to her immigrant roots.

“Let’s all take a deep breath and an exhale and breathe normally. You are safe, you are present, you are loved and you are graduates. Congratulations class of 2024,” Yang said. “As a Hmong American who has an immigrant parent, I’d like to honor the Hmong community, first-gen college students, students with immigrant parents, or those who may be immigrants themselves. This takes much bravery and courage to come in .. or you are alone.”

She shared a final thought, too.

“An important lesson I learned is that everyone is a leader because each leads in their own way.”
