Four nonprofits team up to help students get school supplies through One Stop School Shop | WFRV

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Four nonprofits are teaming up to get students ready for the next school year through supplies.

The Service League Green Bay, The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay, Howe Community Resource Center, and Newcap kicked off their “One Stop School Shop” campaign on Tuesday.

In previous years, some of the participating organizations held individual school supply campaigns, but all four agreed that their impact would be stronger together as one giant shopping spree.

“Our vision behind this collaboration was to pool all of our resources into one event where families can make one stop and shop to get their kids ready for the school year,” said a representative with The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay. We aim to provide school supplies, high-quality backpacks, tennis shoes, socks, and underwear to potentially up to 5,000 students this year.”

The event will take place August 5 through 7 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Kress Events Center.

“Elementary students who come to the One Stop School Shop will be able to walk through the shop with a volunteer,” added a representative from Newcap. “While elementary school students shop, all other children and parents get to enjoy activities and information from other local agencies on resource row.”

Officials are working closely with several schools to register children for the event, but registration will be open to the public in June.

All four nonprofits are asking those who can donate to the cause to consider doing so by becoming a sponsor or just a simple monetary donation.
