National estuarine nomination for Bay of Green Bay accepted
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Prestige and preservation are one step closer to the Bay of Green Bay.
On a map that designates each of the 30 National Estuarine Research Reserves in the country, you may notice there are only two in the Great Lakes.
Last week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration accepted the nomination to designate the Bay as a National Estuary Research Reserve, NERR for short.
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is overseeing this effort and will take the lead on managing the NERR.
Dr. Matt Dornbush, the Dean of UWGB Cofrin School of Business and Biology Professor, who works on areas of research involving ecosystems, joins us in a video to explain more.
