Give BIG Green Bay selects 50 nonprofits for 2025 giving campaign | Green Bay Press Gazette

GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers Foundation and Greater Green Bay Community Foundation are once again rallying support for local nonprofits during the eighth annual Give BIG Green Bay event in February, striving to give back in a big way to organizations at the heart of the community.

Each year, Give BIG Green Bay selects 50 Brown County nonprofits to participate in the 24-hour crowdfunding event. Since the program began in 2018, it has donated over $13.5 million to nonprofits throughout the county.

From noon Feb. 19 until noon Feb. 20, anyone can donate to participating nonprofits or to the event’s match fund to benefit all of the organizations. At the end of the event, each nonprofit receives the amount donated directly to them and a proportionate share of the matching funds.

The match fund is already at $250,000 thanks to a donation from the Green Bay Packers Foundation. Donations can be made at givebiggreenbay.com during the 24-hour event.

Give BIG Green Bay is dedicated to “amplifying the critical work of our nonprofits, sharing their powerful stories and celebrating the power of local giving,” said Dennis Buehler, president and CEO of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, in a news release.

“Year after year, this community shows just how people can come together and make a difference,” Buehler said in the release.

The program will also be introducing the Mark Murphy Give BIG Green Bay Spirit Award this year to honor Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy’s dedication to fostering generosity. The award, selected by the participating nonprofits, will recognize one participating organization each year that embodies the values and spirit of Give BIG Green Bay.

Recipients of the award will receive a Give BIG Green Bay branded football and a $1,000 bonus. The award will serve as a lasting lasting tribute to Murphy and his dedication to the community after his retirement in July, Buehler said.

“I speak for all of us by simply saying ‘thank you, Mark, for saying yes,'” Buehler said. “Your generous support, your genuine partnership is instrumental to the success of this initiative. Give BIG Green Bay represents a unique collaboration, one that’s really unmatched anywhere else, and continues to be a testament to Mark and the Packers organization.”

When looking back on his 17-year career as the Packers’ president and CEO, Murphy said the Give BIG campaign stands out as one of the greatest memories.

“In my 17 years here, this connection and this community initiative has really been one of the most exciting,” Murphy said. “It’s really been very special.”

Of the 50 nonprofits selected this year, 16 are participating in the event for the first time. For first-time participant The Mauthe Center, Give BIG is the perfect opportunity to share its story to a wider community, Program Director Robert Pyne said.

“We’re thrilled to be able to tell our story of creating community conversation and interfaith connections and the work that we do here at UW-Green Bay and beyond,” Pyne said. “We’re most excited about the visibility and the opportunity to build new connections with donors, with other nonprofits and with interested people in the community.”

Brown County First Robotics will also be participating for the first time in 2025. First Robotics teaches K-12 students about robotics and STEM engineering, provides opportunities to participate in three different levels of the program and encourages skill-building in a practical and fun way.

One of the many positives to participating in Give BIG is connecting with and working alongside 49 other dedicated organizations, Marketing Director Emily Tietyen said.

“We’re just looking forward to being amongst that company of … nonprofits that we can also learn from,” Tietyen said. “As well as being able to boost our own platform and build awareness about our programs that we’re offering for students in the Green Bay Area.”
