“GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Construction on UW-Green Bay’s new libraryreached a milestone Wednesday.

The campus held a topping out ceremony for its five-story, $101 million Cofrin Technology and Education Center (CTEC). Dozens of UW-Green Bay faculty, staff and students, along with community members and construction workers, signed the final structural beam.

“A topping out ceremony is a time-honored tradition in our industry. It’s not about celebrating the progress, but it’s about celebrating the people that made this progress,” said Miron Construction CFO Dean Basten.

Miron Construction is leading the project.

The raising of the final beam to the highest point of the building was compared to the Phoenix rising from its ashes.

The CTEC is positioned to become the university’s new front door to campus. It’s the first state-funded building on campus in more than 30 years — a symbol of the momentum UWGB has and its future.

“It’s a place we want all of our community to be able to experience this building and what it has to offer. It’s for everyone to be able to learn and experience it,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander.”
