Prof. Emeritus Mike Kraft on Thursday (June 6) offered some context for a story making headlines after it was reported the U.S. government obtained a court order to receive customers’ phone records from Verizon Wireless. Customers and civil libertarians locally and nationwide cried foul at the revelation, and Jenn Sullivan of WFRV, Channel 5 reported the story from a Northeastern Wisconsin perspective. “It’s really just looking at patterns across calls,” Kraft told Sullivan. “It’s not like the government is listening to every phone call you make. … “This is the trade off that comes with the concern of international terrorism.” Full story.
