Faculty note: Hutchison at Midwest Sociological Society meeting in Chicago
Prof. Ray Hutchison of Urban and Regional Studies has returned from the annual meeting of the Midwest Sociological Society, held in Chicago this past weekend. He was the leader of a bus tour, Discovering the Chicago School, that took conference participants to The Ghetto, The Gold Coast and the Slum, The Taxi Dance Hall, Hobohemia (from The Hobo), and other areas of the city that figured prominently in the famous Chicago School of Urban Sociology studies from the 1920s. This is a bus tour that Prof. Hutchison has done through several cycles of annual meetings held in Chicago for the Midwest Sociological Society and the American Sociological Association; as has been the case in most previous years, the trip was sold out and included graduate students, faculty, and others from across the country.
