Helpap provides take on Vinehout gubernatorial announcement
Assistant Prof. David Helpap, Public and Environmental Affairs, last week offered some on-air context for the news that State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout won’t be seeking the Democratic nomination for governor. Vinehout said Friday she wouldn’t run for the state’s top office because she needs to focus on her recovery from injuries sustained in a Dec. 8 car accident. That leaves former Trek Bicycle exec Mary Burke as the primary challenger for Gov. Scott Walker. “Not having a primary can be both good and bad,” Helpap told wearegreenbay.com’s Jenn Sullivan. “It can be good in that you don’t have two candidates of the same party kind of battling it out, exposing each other’s weaknesses.” See more.
