New photos, story: Meacham inspires ‘After Thoughts’ crowd

Prof. Rebecca Meacham fired up the first After Thoughts audience of the 2012-13 school year Monday (Oct. 1), motivating attendees to put pen to paper in “Fiction’s Burning Questions: Novelists, History and the Creative Spark.” Nearly 100 campus and community members attended the evening event, enjoying networking and hors d’oeuvres before Meacham delivered her keynote address. She shared with the audience how novelists navigate a process she refers to as “slow, directionless and full of wrong turns,” offering advice and asking audience members to start the process of becoming fiction novelists themselves.
