Stories From the Archives

The UW-Green Bay Archives Department is hosting another Stories From the Archives event. This Stories From the Archives event will take place on October 18 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Christie Theatre in the University Union. This event is free and open to the public. The Stories From the Archives program series shares experiences of local authors who extensively relied on the UW-Green Bay Archives collections for their research. David Siegel, retired Green Bay Metro Fire Department Lieutenant, will be discussing his research journey at the UW-Green Bay Archives and the stories he uncovered about the Green Bay Fire Department while researching his book “Forces of Change: Events that Led to the Development of the Green Bay Fire Department, 1836-1895.” Drawing upon city council records held at the UW-Green Bay Archives, the author describes the transformation of the fire department. The research and writings provide a unique look at the early history of Green Bay and Fort Howard. The modernization history of the Green Bay Fire Department is directly tied to serious and significant fires, like Green Bay’s great fire of 1880. This event is sponsored by the UW-Green Bay Archives Department and UWGB Libraries. For more information or to discuss disability accommodations, please contact the Archives Department, 920.465.2539 or archives@uwgb.edu.
