UW-Green Bay, students to host Money Smart Week Wisconsin

The fifth annual Money Smart Week Wisconsin campaign kicks off at UW-Green Bay on Monday (Oct. 4). The kickoff is part of a series of events in the statewide financial literacy campaign, which officially runs from Oct. 2-9. Next Monday’s events here, organized by the campus chapter of Students in Free Enterprise, begin at 5:30 p.m. in the University Union’s Phoenix Room.

Mike DeGrand, president of Harbor Credit Union, will speak on “Credit Cards: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!” and share a few “horror stories” but also investment and financial planning advice for students along with the basics  of good money management. Other speakers include honorary Money Smart Week chair Tom Hinz, Brown County executive; Alejo Torres of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; and David Mancl, Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
