Former Blue Whale Coffeehouse regular and UWGB alum celebrates 50 years of music making and story telling
Folk musician Claudia Schmidt is returning to the Green Bay Area on November 4 for a concert commemorating five decades of original music, poetry, and storytelling. Claudia began her music career while still a student in the 1970s at UW-Green Bay. She was a regular guest at the Blue Whale Coffeehouse, a venue located on campus through the 1980s. A 50th anniversary of the Blue Whale was observed in 2015 and Schmidt returned to headline that celebratory event.
Claudia Schmidt’s quirky and wonderful hodge-podge (her word!) work provides a unique look at the world from someone who says what she see with clarity, humor, and wonder. She’s widely known as a singer/songwriter of folk and blues, and accomplished performer on 12-string guitar and mountain dulcimer, was a regular during the early years of Prairie Home Companion, and is still heard on WPR’s “Simply Folk.”

Tickets are available in advance online for $20 or $25 the day of the show (at door and cash or check only). For more information visit Kavarna’s website or the Simply Folk Events Calendar.
