‘After Thoughts’ returns Oct. 1 with Meacham talk on fiction, creativity
UW-Green Bay’s popular After Thoughts series of programs is back, kicking off 2012-13 with a Monday, Oct. 1 session featuring Prof. Rebecca Meacham. Her presentation, “Fiction’s burning questions: novelists, history and the creative spark” will explore how novelists navigate a process Meacham refers to as “slow, directionless and full of wrong turns.” She’ll also have audience members engage in a bit of creative writing of their own throughout the event. Meacham, an associate professor of Creative Writing, English and Women’s and Gender Studies, is on sabbatical for the current academic year, working on her novel about Wisconsin’s Peshtigo Fire of 1871. The After Thoughts event begins at 5 p.m. with time to mingle, network and enjoy hors d’oeuvres before the featured speaker begins at 5:45 p.m. See our news release for more on Meacham’s presentation and the rest of the 2012-13 After Thoughts lineup.
