Martin talks SoTL for Faculty Development Center

Prof. Ryan Martin will present “Research in the Classroom and the IRB: The Ethics of SoTL” at the next Faculty Development Center event, set for noon to 1:30 p.m Friday, Nov. 14 in the Alumni Room. The presentation will provide a brief description of the purpose and function of the IRB in general but will focus primarily on how researchers engaging in SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning) projects can insure that their projects not only protect participants, but also are designed in such a way that they maximize the benefit to students. Details on IRB submissions will be discussed along with general discussion of ethical principles as they apply to SoTL.
