Be on the lookout for advertising scam involving ‘Phoenix, UWGB’ folders

Any individuals and offices at UW-Green Bay receiving an unsolicited shipment of folders for “free distribution” should report them to Dan McIver in Phoenix Athletics, for action by the University’s licensing arm. The folders carry the University mark and Athletics logo, unauthorized, and the sellers were able to solicit several Green Bay area businesses for sponsorship ads on the folder. McIver said he would reach out to the advertisers and let them know that the use of our logo has not been authorized and if they haven’t paid for their advertisements they should consider not paying. The company listed as publisher (American Youth Group, Inc) has been the subject of complaints; the link here is to the Vermont Attorney General’s Office, which labels it a fraudulent advertising scheme.
