Prof. Nielsen to speak on UN work, Jordan journey

UW-Green Bay Prof. Kim Nielsen will share her experience helping to direct a United Nations course in Amman, Jordan when she leads a program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 26) at the Harmony Café, located inside the Goodwill Store at 1600 W. Mason St., Green Bay.

The UN course was for young adult leaders who were active in their communities working against gender violence; the discussion is related to the book Half the Sky, which focuses on international women’s issues and seeks to motivate action.  Excerpts from last year’s CARE program for International Women’s Day will be shown, including interview with the authors.  The meeting is sponsored by the Green Bay Area Branch of AAUW (the American Association of University Women). Wednesday night’s meeting is free and open to the public, whether individuals have read the book or not.
