In pictures: Record class shares fun in learning at Grandparents’ University
A record 150 grandparents and grandchildren enjoyed learning together July 12-13 at UW-Green Bay, taking part in the seventh annual Grandparents’ University.
The multigenerational summer camp lets participants enjoy “major” classes on topics ranging from music and the arts to nutrition science and even rocketry. Grandparents and grandkids can attend camp as commuters or stay in UW-Green Bay residence halls during GPU.
Grandparents’ University offers hands-on learning and fun for both the elder and younger GPU campers, while also offering grandkids a glimpse of college life, said Mona Christensen, director of Camps and Conferences at UW-Green Bay. It also gives grandparents and grandchildren a unique bonding opportunity, and the chance to create lasting memories.
“The multigenerational learning is really important,” Christensen said, “and I think, different than just a social activity — going out to eat, or spending free time together. Learning together is when you really get to learn what makes each other tick.”
