Giving back: UW Credit Union matches $-for-$ on student aid
Members of the UW Credit Union are invited between now and Dec. 31 to make a charitable donation to benefit future students at UW-Green Bay, and to double their donation in the process.
The UW Credit Union will match member contributions dollar-for-dollar (up to total donations of $10,000) to create an endowed scholarship fund at UW-Green Bay.
The scholarships will go to students with financial need, helping them to focus on their studies and succeed in attaining their educational goals.
“Many of UW-Green Bay’s faculty, staff, students and alumni are members of the UW Credit Union,” says Shane Kohl, a gifts officer with the University’s Office of Advancement. “We applaud the Credit Union’s generosity in giving back to the campus community and future students.
“The fact UWCU is encouraging its members to participate is a much-appreciated boost for UW-Green Bay’s scholarship program, and a nice opportunity for members to maximize the impact of their end-of-year charitable donations.”
A $5 or $50 or $500 gift by a member will be matched by a $5 or $50 or $500 contribution by the Credit Union. When the overall target of $20,000 is reached, awards averaging $1,000 will be made annually thereafter to deserving UW-Green Bay students.
The UW-Green Bay scholarship is one of several involving the UW Credit Union. Similar funds are being established at UW-Madison, Milwaukee, Stevens Point, Whitewater and Madison Area Technical College.
The UW Credit Union Scholarship Fund at UW-Green Bay is one of 47 new named scholarships established since 2003 as part of the University’s capital drive, The Campaign for UW-Green Bay.
