In the news: Second annual Stair Climb honors fallen, heroes of 9/11
UW-Green Bay’s second annual 9/11 Walk the Stairs event drew considerable media attention Thursday (Sept. 11), as 118 students, faculty and staff traversed floors two through eight of the Cofrin Library in solemn remembrance. Leading the way were Green Bay Firefighter Logan Simkowski and Freedom volunteer firefighter Jesse Brody, an admissions advisor in UW-Green Bay’s Adult Degree program, who climbed the stairs, in full turnout gear, 12 times to equal the number of stairs climbed by firefighters in the Twin Towers. UW-Green Bay’s Vets-4-Vets student organization and University Wellness Committee sponsored the event.
